Nickname Policy
Overview
Your in-game nickname is your identity in Bullet Echo. It's visible to all players in matches, syndicates, and leaderboards. We want everyone to feel welcome and safe, so we enforce rules on what nicknames are allowed. Violating this policy may result in a forced name change or account restrictions.
Prohibited Nickname Categories
The following types of nicknames are not allowed:
1. Hate Speech & Discrimination
- Racial, ethnic, or national slurs (including the N-word, variations, and coded language)
- Anti-LGBTQ+ slurs or derogatory terms
- Antisemitic, Islamophobic, or other religiously targeted language
- Slurs targeting people with disabilities (ableist language)
- Derogatory terms aimed at any gender
2. Supremacist & Extremist Content
- References to white supremacism, Nazism, or any hate groups (e.g. "Hitler", "1488", "SS", swastikas in text form)
- Coded hate symbols and dog whistles (e.g. numeric codes like 1488, 88, etc.)
- Names of terrorist organizations or mass shooters
- Propaganda slogans of extremist movements
3. Profanity & Obscenity
- Explicit profanity in any language
- Sexual or sexually suggestive content
- References to genitalia, sexual acts, or bodily functions intended to shock
4. Harassment & Bullying
- Nicknames targeting specific individuals (e.g. "[Name] is a loser")
- Threats of violence or harm (e.g. "IWillUnaliveYou")
- Insults directed at family members (e.g. "YourMomIs...")
- Doxxing-style content (real names, addresses, phone numbers)
5. Impersonation
- Pretending to be a Bullet Echo developer, moderator, or official staff
- Imitating other well-known players with intent to confuse
- Using names of real public figures in a mocking or misleading way
6. Other Prohibited Content
- Promotion of drugs, alcohol, or illegal substances
- Advertising, spam, or commercial content (URLs, promo codes)
- References to self-harm or suicide
- Names that are purely gibberish designed to exploit or break the UI
Key Rules
- All languages apply. Offensive nicknames are prohibited regardless of language, script, or alphabet used (English, Russian, Chinese, Arabic, etc.).
- Creative spelling doesn't help. Deliberately misspelling words, substituting characters (e.g. "H1tl3r"), using leetspeak, mixing alphabets, or inserting symbols to disguise offensive content is still a violation.
- Context matters, but rules are rules. Even if you didn't "mean it that way," a nickname that is offensive to other players will be flagged and actioned.
- If in doubt — don't. If you're unsure whether a nickname might be inappropriate, it's better to choose something else.
What Happens If You Violate This Policy
| Offense | Action |
|---|---|
| 1st violation | Forced nickname reset to a default (e.g. "Player_12345") + warning |
| 2nd violation | Forced nickname reset + account ban (7 days) |
| 3rd violation | Permanent account ban |
| Severe violation (extreme hate speech, threats) | Immediate suspension or permanent ban, at the team's discretion |
Note: Penalties are applied at the support team's discretion and may be escalated faster for particularly severe content.
