C.A.T.S. is an asynchronous multiplayer game. Even though you are playing against machines created by real players, your opponents don't have to be online at the time of the battle. Being able to control the entire course of a battle would give the attacker a massive advantage over the defender (who is offline at the time). This is why you cannot fully control battles. The result is based on real-world physics and depends on the way both vehicles are designed.

However, not controlling a battle doesn't mean that you can't influence its outcome! Using co-pilots, you can try to change the outcome of a battle using the co-pilot's skills.
